Well what a busy half term we have had, learning all about space! The children have worked incredibly hard, learning all about adjectives, verbs and adverbs and how to use them to add description and detail to their writing. We collaboratively produced an acrostic poem about space (pictured) as well as our own individual poems. We also started to explore rhyming and had a go at a rhyming poem about space.
We also developed our mind mapping skills further and used this to take notes about our chosen planet. We then used them to create fact files and Powerpoint presentations, presenting what we had found out the rest of the group.
In numeracy we have been concentrating on telling the time on analogue clocks and been enjoying some outdoor learning games and activities linked to this topic. The children also made their own ‘clocks’ to use as a learning tool when solving time problems.
We also enjoyed elements of Art and Music, creating ‘splatter art’ inspired by images of the galaxies and also the work of Jackson Pollock as well as listening to the Planet Suite bu Gustav Holst in order to provide inspiration for our poetry writing.
Have a look at some of our pictures to get more of an idea of what we’ve been up to!
